Please click on each thumbnail to see the picture in its entirety.Kunfun qne souf (reed) weapon defense Abir Yaaqov the Abir Roiim (Sage and Judge- ethical authority and adviser/ overseer of the Greater Abir community of warriors) who is executing Kunfun techniques with the qen-souf (reed). These are the root to learning sword and dagger combat principles for control, disabling and neutralizing the opponent depending on the siutation. Keep in mind that he is approaching 90 years of age and blind. That kind of puts things in a better perspective. | ||
 1. The Aluf Abir attacks the sage with a clockwise circle- whip swipe at the temple |  2. The Sage deflects and pulls the Aluf toward him taking control of his direction adn body weight. This causes the attacker's arm to straighten. |  3. The Sage uses the blade edge of his left hand to press on the inner fold of the striker's elbow abruptly changing the attacker's direction into the gravity field. |
 4. The Sage strikes the attacker's head while twisting the hips slightly to his right as the change in direction causes the adversary's head to jolt forward into the Sage's "soft" blow causing pain and disorientation. |  5. The Sage now thrusts to his left with a circular motion of the hips /shoulders while pushing off with the legs. |  6. The Sage places his qen-souf on the younger Abir's Adam's apple at an angle where it also presses along the bottom of the jaw line. |
 7. By following through the Sage hurls the opponent to the ground on his back. Had the qen-souf been a dagger (peegyon) or the Herev (sword) this counter would certainly have been fatal. | ||
